Victor Vasarely is one of the pioneers of kinetic art and Op Art, artistic movements that developed in the 1950s and 1960s.

Born in 1906 in Pécs, Hungary, he studied medicine before turning definitively to painting in the 1930s. Vasarely gradually developed a highly personal style, characterized by the use of simple geometric forms and hypnotic optical patterns. His compositions play on color contrasts and optical illusions, creating striking effects of movement and visual vibration.

His work is part of an exploration of the laws of visual perception, seeking to create immersive and dynamic perceptual experiences for the viewer. Vasarely considered his work as a form of "programmed painting", combining mathematics, physics and biology.
